Sponsorship vs Donations
Sponsorships:
When individuals, families, companies of all sizes, major corporations, and other entities agree to sponsor a wishing well, they would usually expect a kind gesture in return and rightfully so. It may be a short message inserted in the “Sponsorship Plaque” placed on the wishing well which we offer as an optional accessory, or it maybe they have an advertising flyer inserted with other handouts at a large function or event of some sort.
Often the sponsor is mentioned during announcements and or acknowledgements at a large gala or some other sort of event in recognition of their sponsorship. Moving forward, the sponsorship promotion may stay with this wishing well in the form of a message placed in the “Sponsorship Plaque and remains there wherever the well is placed for the life of the wishing well, or it could be that the sponsorship promotion was strictly for a one-time major event. After this event, the recipient of the wishing well is free to do as they wish with the well which would normally be to perform ongoing fundraising efforts for a specific charity. These details of the sponsorship are something which may be negotiated with the sponsor beforehand, so all parties understand and agree to implement which benefits all parties involved be it short term and/or long term.
Keep in mind that under all the scenarios mentioned, it is customary for the person or entity providing the service of the wishing well to mention on the wishing well who is providing and maintaining the wishing well and perhaps to include contact information. It will be much easier to find a sponsor for a wishing well if they know that 100% of the funds derived from the wishing well will be going to the charity or cause it is intended for.
Donations:
Donations are almost always a gift with no strings attached and nothing expected in return for the gift but a very big thank you to the donor. Donations are usually made by individuals, families, companies of all sizes, major corporations, and other entities.
Many of the above mentioned doners are usually more willing to donate a wishing well if they know that 100% of the funds generated from the wishing well will go to charity or the specific cause it was intended for. It could be for a School, Library, or a place of worship just to name a few. Donations can many times come from a group of people who come together to donate a wishing well for a common cause.
